ALARM Command

ALARM Command

If an optional external alarm is connected to the external alarm port of the SCC and the
alarm relays are energized, the alarm command activates the alarm for three seconds.
You can activate the alarm to help identify the SCC to which the remote control
software is connected to, which can be useful when multiple switch modules are
installed. Contact professional services or refer to the ServerNet Nomadic Disk
(Release 2) Installation and Service Guide
in the TIM Hardware Service and
Maintenance Collections for more information about the alarm port and relays.

ON

instructs the SCC to trigger any device attached to its alarm port. SWCI verifies
that the alarm was triggered and issues an “SCC alarm triggered” message if this
command was successful.

If an alarm is connected, it activates for three seconds; however, the response
message packet finishes within one second, plus communication and link time.

If the SCC key switch is in the LOCAL position, SWCI issues an error message.

MUTE

instructs the SCC to disable its power-on alarm port. If the SCC fails power-on
diagnostics (see the

SELFTEST Command

on page 6-14), the power-on alarm

port is activated until either an ALARM MUTE command is received or power-on
diagnostics are successfully executed.

If the ALARM MUTE command is successful, SWCI verifies that the power-on
alarm is silenced and issues an “SCC power-on alarm silenced” message. If the
SCC key switch is in the LOCAL position, SWCI issues an error message.

Consideration

The external alarm is an optional feature. You must provide the alarm, cable, and
matching connector. The alarm must be self-powered and compatible with the
rating of the external alarm relay contacts.

Remote action commands cannot be executed while the key switch is in the
LOCAL position.

Example

To activate the external alarm relay for three seconds:

SWCI $NDSWA.#TERM> ALARM ON

ALARM { ON | MUTE }
