Switch Modules
ServerNet Nomadic Disk (Release 2) User’s Guide — 523968-001
4 -2
Switch modules control ownership of the disk modules and data paths. To control
switch modules, you can either:
•
Physically toggle a switch on a switch card
•
Use software, such as the ServerNet Nomadic Disk switch command interface
(SWCI) or the Nomadic Disk Manager
shows the faceplate of a switch module.
Switch modules contain:
•
A switch controller card (SCC) in slot 0, which provides a communication link
between switch cards and a server.
•
Switch cards in slots 1 through 8, which determine the path of fiber-optic signals
between a node and the internal 46xx or external 45xx disk drives.

Note.
Although it is possible to connect other types of servers to the switch module, NonStop
S-series servers are the only servers documented in this guide.
