Moving the Fiber Optic Switches to the Opposite
Position
Moving the Fiber Optic Switches to the
Opposite Position
A switch card determines the position of the fiber-optic switch: straight or crossed. To
move the fiber-optic switches to another position, do one of the following:
•
If you are using Nomadic Disk Manager, the GIVE and TAKE commands perform
the switching. See
Section 7, Nomadic Disk Manager Interface
.
•
If you are not using Nomadic Disk Manager:
•
Issue commands from the Switch Command Interface (SWCI) to each switch.
See
Section 6, Switch Command Interface (SWCI)
. The SWCI commands
affect the switch card only if the key switch on the switch controller card is set
to the REMOTE position.
•
Physically move the toggle switches. The toggle switches affect the switch card
only if the key switch on the switch controller card is set to the LOCAL position.
Planned Switchovers
You perform a planned switchover to continue operations on the backup node when
the primary node must be halted to perform significant maintenance tasks or software
upgrades, minimizing down time for the users of the primary node.
The following procedure is an example of a planned switchover from primary node to
backup node.
