The emulation type of command devices and remote command devices must be OPEN-V. For
details on remote command devices, see the HP StorageWorks XP24000/XP20000 External
Storage Software User's Guide.
CAUTION:
Performing maintenance operations on remote command devices (for example, devices
A and B in
) used for connections between secondary storage systems will
cause the pairs to be suspended as if there was a failure. To avoid this, before performing
maintenance tasks, remove all journal groups in the extended consistency group that use the remote
command devices under maintenance.
Interoperability with Other Products and Functions
Some types of volumes used by non-Universal Replicator for Mainframe functions can also be used
as Universal Replicator for Mainframe data volumes and/or journal volumes. The following table
explains whether non-Universal Replicator for Mainframe volumes are also usable as Universal
Replicator for Mainframe volumes.
