4.5 Server IP Types
Two different server IP types can be set for the SCTE-HMS side of the transponder; Server and Trap
Destinations.
Parameter
Purpose
Status
Value
Server IP
This is the IP address of the device that is
hosting the SNMP software manager that
interacts with the transponder. SNMP traps will
be sent to this address.
Optional
Dotted decimal IP address
(e.g., 192.168.1.23)
Trap Server IP
Setting the Server IP will direct traps to that
IP address. The “Trap Server IP” parameter
allows traps to be sent to a maximum of five
destinations. This allows traps to be sent to a
corporate and a regional site, if desired.
Optional
1
Dotted decimal IP address
(e.g., 192.168.1.23)
1 - Optional, unless SNMP traps are to be sent to alternate IP addresses
4.6 Advanced Security
Additional security can be added to the transponder system by further restricting the ability to read from or
write to the HMS side of the transponder by IP address.
Parameter
Purpose

Value
Default
Secure
SNMP
This controls whether additional security is
enabled or not. Once enabled, only those
addresses in the “Secure Hosts” list will be able
to read or write to the transponder. Community
string security still applies.
Optional
In a CM file, either a 1 or 2,
where:
1 = Security ON
2 = Security OFF
With a hmsinit.ini file, either
ENABLE or DISABLE
2 (OFF)
Secure
Hosts
The IP addresses of up to five hosts entered
here are the only IP addresses that can Read
or Write (dependent upon the community
string used by the IP address performing the
operation) to the HMS side of the transponder.
It is important that if this security setting is ON,
(see “Secure SMNP” setting above), that the
server IP address be entered into this list. If
security is OFF, the “Secure Hosts” list will be
ignored.
Optional
1
Dotted quad IP address (e.g.,
192.168.1.23
, up to five
separate IP addresses)
0.0.0.0
