Troubleshooting
This chapter discusses diagnostic tests, paper jams, and status
and error messages.
Maintaining Print Quality
To maintain good print quality, clean the printer according to the
schedules and information listed in Chapter 5.

Perform a General Cleaning (page 149).
NOTE: Recommended toner vacuum cleaner models are listed on

Clean the main charger, precharger, and transfer charger. See
page 154 for the main charger. See page 158 for the
precharger and transfer charger.

If print quality problems occur, clean the following areas:
•
The drum with the drum freshener (only when smears
appear on print samples due to the drum).
•
The LED array and the SELFOC
lens (LED print head) with
the Toraysee cloth.
•
The fuser cover glass with a razor blade or the cover glass
scraper.
If you do not set the desired print quality after cleaning the printer,
you might need to replace the chargers. Contact your authorized
service representative for further assistance.
