Internal ringer
Special ring tone on PABXs to distinguish between internal and external calls.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network)
All data (including voice) is sent digitally with ISDN. The network operator normally pro-
vides at least two B channels per ISDN line. An active connection can be set up for each
B channel allowing e. g. simultaneous surfing and calling.

Keypad
Keypad supports special function keys such as the star (*) and hash (#). This allows you
to send control signals during a call, so that you can use particular features of your ISDN
network.
M
MSN (Multiple Subscriber Number)
Multiple subscriber number. Multiple subscriber numbers are your own telephone num-
bers assigned to you by your network provider when your ISDN line was set up. Up to
ten MSNs can be assigned to one ISDN connection.
Music on hold
Playing of music or a service announcement. With the enquiry call, toggling and redirect
features, the call is held in the telephone exchange or the base station. Music can be
played while the caller is on hold.

NTBA (Network Terminator Basic Access)
Network terminator device. The public ISDN network is terminated with an NTBA. ISDN
end devices and PABXs are connected to the NTBA.

PDA (Personal Digital Assistant)
Also known as hand-held PC. Mobile computer in wallet format offering not only organ-
iser functions but also communication via telephone, email, Bluetooth etc.
PIN (Personal Identification Number)
Protects against unauthorised use, e.g., system PIN, answering machine PIN, headset
PIN. When accessing a protected area, e. g. device configuration, when PIN protection
is activated a particular combination of numbers or characters has to be entered.
