Database Maintenance Utilities
Six command-line utilities are available for maintenance of the 4.1x, 4.5x and
5.x News database that is used by NewsEdit, FeedClip, NewsShare, and
NewsQ. These utilities automatically install on DNP client machines and most
versions of NewsShare servers. If they are not found in the C:\Program
Files\Vibrint 3.0\DB Maintenance directory of a DNP client or server, they can
be installed by running the SetupNewsShareUtilities installer from the DNP
distribution.
This chapter discusses how to:
• Back up the database
• Restore the database from a back up
• Completely uninstall the database
• Recreate an empty news database
• Shrink the database
• Schedule automatic backups of the database
