Installing the Dual-Port Fibre Channel Card
You need to install a dual-port Fibre Channel card on each DNP NewsShare
system and then configure the two ports.
Installing the Fibre Channel Card
If any exist, you first need to remove old single-port Emulex Fibre Channel
cards and install dual-port Fibre Channel cards.
To install the Fibre Channel card:
1. Remove the Emulex card from each NewsShare workstation.
2. Install a dual-port Fibre Channel card in each NewsShare workstation.
3. Connect the cables to both ports.
4. Power on the system and log into Windows 2000 as Administrator .
5. Configure the ports as described in the following two sections.
Configuring the SCSI Drivers
You need configure both ports of the Fibre Channel card with SCSI drivers.
To configure the SCSI drivers:
1. Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties .
2. Click the Hardware tab.
3. Click Device Manager .
Two Fibre Channel controllers appear under SCSI and RAID Controllers .
4. Right-click on the first Fibre Channel controller and choose Properties .
5. Click the Driver tab.
6. Click Update driver .
The Upgrade Device Driver Wizard appears.
7. Click Next .
8. Select Search for a suitable driver for my device and click Next .
9. Insert the media with the Qlogic QLA2342 Dual Fibre Channel SCSI driver.
