Fiduciary Markers
Marker Overview
A fiduciary marker is an object used as a point of reference to measure angle and
distance for augmented reality applications. They are often referred to simply as
“markers.”
maxReality uses the ALVAR Marker Library, version 1.5. ALVAR is a marker library
from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland (www.vtt.fi). An end-user license
agreement for the ALVAR technology is included in the maxReality install program.
Please refer to that document for your specific rights to use and/or re-distribute
software utilizing this technology in commercial applications.
Static and Moveable Markers
maxReality utilizes two series of markers: Static and Moveable. Samples of these
markers are provided in the attached document “maxReality Marker Library.pdf.”
Each marker, static and moveable, utilizes a “Master Key” for orientation.
