Chapter 6 Special BIOS Feature
SuperBIOS-Protect
There are two choices which implement this function.
1. Set the jumper (FWH_EN) to closed, the BIOS cannot be overwritten.
2. Set the jumper (FW H_EN) to opened, and set
“SuperBIOS-Protect” to Enabled
in the CMOS Setup. In this way, the BIOS cannot be overwritten, but the DMI
information can be updated.
Note: FWH_EN Default is opened.
The BIOS of the motherboard is contained inside the Flash ROM. Severe vi-
ruses such as the CIH virus, are so dangerous that they may overwrite the BIOS
of the motherboard. If the BIOS has been damaged, the system will be unable to
boot. W e provide the following solution which protects the system BIOS from
being attacked by such viruses.
