4.2.3 Connecting Line/Facility and POTS/Equipment RJ-21 Connectors
NOTE: Please see Appendix A for cable pinouts.
Step 1. Connect one end of the CAT3/5 24-pair cable to the "LINE/FACILITY" female
RJ-21 connector on the MTAS backplane. For right-angle RJ-21 connectors,
use a tie wrap to secure the top of connector to the cable tie mount and RJ-21
connector; use a screw for bottom. Please see Figure 27 and Figure 28.
Step 2. Connect the other end to the subscriber MDF.
Step 3. Connect one end of the CAT3/5 24-pair cable to the "POTS/EQUIPMENT"
female RJ-21 connector on the MTAS backplane.
Step 4. Connect the other end to the voice switch.
Step 5. Dress, tie, and label cables following local procedures.
Step 6. Repeat steps #1-5 for all provisioned line cards.
