This guide provides the basic information required to install the NID-01V POTS Splitter in a Telephone Network
Interface location. Qualified personnel must perform the installation of the NID-01V POTS Splitter.
Planning Installation
You should have
• Nut driver wrench suitable to remove/tighten the bolts used in the Telephone Network Interface box.
• Suitable wire for the installation (22AWG, 24AWG or 26AWG solid conductor type), and
• Wire
cutters
CAUTION - To reduce the risk of fire, use only No. 26 AWG or larger telecommunication line cord/cable.
Choosing a Mounting Location
The NID-01V is designed to be mounted in the Telco side of the Telephone Network Interface (SNI) box.
The orientation of the NID-01V is important as it should be positioned to provide easy access to the IDC
connectors on the top of the unit
It is required that the NID-01V is installed after a suitable protection device. Comtest recommends the use of a
capacitively balanced protection block in order to ensure that optimum system performance is achieved and
maintained.
