6.3 General

Description

This document introduces the options for using the "Motion Control Tools", a software package
used to operate Pilz motion systems. The software runs under Microsoft Windows (Version
2000 / XP / Vista / 7). The description assumes at least a basic knowledge of the Microsoft
Windows operating system. If you require more detailed information, please refer to your
Microsoft Windows documentation.

The options available with the "Motion Control Tools" software package are described here in
brief. The sections that follow contain a detailed description.

6.3.1

Text Editor PEdit

This text editor can be used to create, view and edit the program files for PMC systems. Data
from PEdit can be downloaded directly to the connected hardware using PTerm.

6.3.2 Terminal

PTerm

The terminal program PTerm is the communication interface between “Motion Control Tools”
software and the PMC systems of Pilz GmbH & Co. KG. Commands can also be sent directly to
the connected hardware, plus the firmware can be updated and the basic configuration of the
PMCprimo control systems can be performed.

Oscilloscope Function PScope

PScope is a PC-based oscilloscope with up to 4 channels. It can be used to record and
visualise various signal variables from control systems and servo amplifiers.
