How to record a signal

Trigger function

For monitoring signals a trigger function can be used. The following 3 trigger modes can be
selected:

y

Single Shot

One-off triggering and signal recording

y

Normal

Continuous triggering (signal is constantly refreshed)

y

OFF

Trigger function switched off, signal is continuous


In the Single Shot mode a signal is measured by triggering to an event only one time. Then the
screen will be “frozen”. For the next recording action the trigger must be activated again.

In the Normal mode the oscilloscope waits for a valid trigger event continuously. If an event
occurs the signal data will be recorded.

In the OFF mode the trigger function is deactivated. The oscilloscope records continuously
without waiting for an event.


Start and Stop Recording
To start and stop recording press the functions “RUN” and “STOP” in the menu “Scope”, in the
toolbar or in the property page “Trigger” of the parameter bar.

Click RUN for start and STOP for stop recording.



To record a signal, PTerm must be connected to a PMC device, otherwise it will not be
possible to transfer data to PScope.
