Maintaining the toner cartridge
The toner cartridge is a user replaceable component. When the operator panel indicates
TONERLOW*, make sure that you have the replacement toner cartridge on hand. The
printer may continue to print until the toner cartridge is completely used up and then
replace the toner cartridge.
* This message appears after printing text approximately 7,000 pages in simplex mode
at 5% coverage in default DENSITY mode.

• Do not remove the toner cartridge from its package until you are ready to use it.
• Do not expose the toner cartridge to light for more than 3 minutes to avoid damage.
® Do not expose the toner cartridge to direct sunlight.
Toner cartridge life
The life of the toner cartridge depends on the amount of toner that print jobs require.
When printing text at 5% coverage, a toner cartridge lasts an average of 8000 pages in
simplex mode, depending on environment and media types. This assumes that print
DENSITY and TON.SAVE menu items are set to default.
