Removing the MCU

Normally you will not need to remove the MCU. However, if necessary, remove it as follows.

Observe ESD precautions whenever you handle the MCU. See note above.

Unplug the control board and remove the main PCB from the enclosure.

Use a small blade screwdriver that will fit between the pins of connectors P1 and P2. Slip the blade

between the connector pins and under one end of the MCU, then lift it up slightly. Repeat the process at the
other end of the MCU. Do not press the screwdriver against the stereo jack. You might damage it. Continue
to lift each end of the MCU in small steps until it is free. Working in small steps will avoid bending the
MCU pins.

Place the MCU in anti-static foam or an anti-static carrier until you are ready to replace it.
