Installing System Components

Replacing the Power Distribution Board

CAUTION:

Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician.

You should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in
your product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service
and support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not
covered by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came
with the product.

1 Unpack the new power distribution board assembly.
2 Align the tabs on the board with the slots on the chassis.
3 Press the board into the connector until it is fully seated.
4 Install the cooling fan assembly. See "Installing the Cooling Fan Assembly"

on page 119.

5 Install the memory risers. See "Installing a Memory Riser" on page 101.
6 If applicable, install the memory-riser blanks. See "Installing a Memory-

Riser Blank" on page 100.

7 Close the system. See "Closing the System" on page 90.
8 Install the power supplies in the system. See "Installing a Power Supply" on

page 155.

9 Reconnect the system to its electrical outlet and turn the system on,

including any attached peripherals.
