Solutions to Common Problems

In this section, we list suggested steps to rectify some common problems that may arise
during the installation and operation of the access point.

3. I want to know whether the access point is connected to the Internet.
A. Open a Command Prompt
For Windows 98/98SE/ME, please click the Start button and Run. In the
Open field within the Run dialog box, type in command. Press the Enter key
or click the
OK
button.

For Windows 2000 and XP, please click the Start button and Run. In the
Open field within the Run dialog box, type in cmd. Press the Enter key or
click the
OK
button.
B. In the Command Prompt, type ping 192.168.168.1 and press the Enter key.
You will get a reply if the PC is communicating with the gateway.

If you do NOT get a reply, ensure that your settings are correct before trying
again. Your computer MUST be in the same subnet as the access point.

C. In the Command Prompt, type ping www.yahoo.com and press the Enter key.

Obtaining a reply means that you are connected to the Internet.

Otherwise, you may want to ping another known host.

Getting no reply from any of the other hosts that you have tried, suggests that
your connection may be having problems.
