Outline fonts and high-definition fax
To obtain the highest-quality printed text image, install
outline type fonts, such as TrueType fonts, on your system.
The fax imaging process takes a picture of your Macintosh
screen. Because the Macintosh screen has a much lower
resolution than the 200 dots-per-inch resolution of a fax
machine, bitmapped fonts will give you jagged character
edges. In contrast, outline fonts produce clear, crisp
images without “jaggies” across the entire range of font
sizes by mathematically scaling fonts to the selected size.
If you have outline and bitmapped fonts installed, be sure
to use only the outline fonts for cover pages and
documents. Outline fonts produce excellent results across
the entire range of font sizes.
