To connect your Macintosh to a twisted-pair Ethernet network, follow these
instructions:
1 Shut down your computer.
2 Plug one end of the twisted-pair patch cord into the 10Base-T Ethernet port on
the Ethernet card in your Macintosh.
3 Plug the other end of the twisted-pair patch cord into an RJ-45 wall outlet that is
connected to a twisted-pair Ethernet network.
4 Configure your network connection following the advice of your network administrator
and the instructions in “Configuring Your Network Connection” later in this chapter.
