Hard disk drive
Refer to Chapter 7,
Problem
Procedure
Computer does not
boot from hard drive
Check if a diskette is in the diskette drive. If a
disk diskette is inserted, remove it and reboot.
Slow performance or
disk errors
Your files may be fragmented. Run SCANDISK
and defragmenter to check the condition of your
files and disk. Refer to your OS documentation
or on-line HELP for information on running
SCANDISK and the defragmenter.
Run the diagnostic test. Write down any reported
errors. If TDIAGS does not report any errors and
you have exhausted every troubleshooting
possibility, make sure you have backed up all
your files.
As a last resort, reformat the hard disk. Then,
reload the operating system and other files.
If problems persist, contact your dealer.
Diskette drive
For more information, refer to Chapter 3,
Problem
Procedure
Drive does not
operate
There may be a faulty cable connection. Check
the connection to the Port Replicator and to the
drive.
Some programs run
correctly, but others do
not
The software or hardware configuration may be
causing a problem. Make sure the hardware
configuration matches your software’s needs.
You cannot access the
external 3 ½” diskette
drive
Try another diskette. If you can access this
diskette, the original diskette (not the disk drive)
is probably causing the problem.
Run the diagnostic test program TDIAGS.
If problems persist, contact your dealer.
