INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
829 Series Shower Drain
The 829 Series shower drains are used with fi berglass shower fl oor/bases or one-
piece shower units.
To install, remove the locknut and washers from the drain. Inspect the connection
gasket. Be sure the gasket is in good shape (no deformations), is fl exible, and does
not have any cracks.
Apply a bead of silicone to the underside of the drain lip, then from the top-side
of the fl oor, place the drain through the hole in the shower fl oor. Do NOT use
plumber’s putty.
From underneath the shower fl oor/base, place the black rubber sealing washer,
then the friction washer then the locknut over the male threaded drain body, and
tighten the locknut. The friction washer protects the rubber from damage while the
locknut is threaded on and tightened up.
From the top side of the shower, remove any excess silicone that has squeezed out.
The fi berglass shower fl oor/base is sandwiched between the drain body lip and
the locknut. The sealing washer on the under side, along with the silicone sealant
applied between the shower fl oor/base and the lip, makes the seal between the
drain and the shower fl oor/base.
Install the drain pipe into the connection gasket, The pipe should be pushed to the
top, but not higher than the gasket. Pipe installed higher than the top of the gasket
will allow standing water in the drain and increase the possibility of leaks. Allow 24
hours for the silicone to cure, and check installation for leaks before using shower.
