5.1 Connecting to the Internet
When in the Home screen, select
Settings > Data Connec-
tions to access the Data Connections screen. The settings
in this screen enable you to set up Dial-up, Virtual Private
Network (VPN), Proxy, and General Packet Radio Service
(GPRS) connections so you can connect to the Internet or
your corporate network.
With a data connection, you can browse the Web, download
E-mail, chat using MSN Messenger, or synchronize wire-
lessly with the server. Check with your service provider to
see if a data connection has already been set up for you,
and if over-the-air configuration is supported.
Dial-up Connections
You need to set up a dial-up connection to connect directly
to the Internet or to your corporate network.
To create a dial-up connection to the Internet:
1.
When in the Home screen, select
Settings > Data
Connections.
2.
Press the Right Softkey to open the menu in the Data
Connections screen and select
Edit Connections.
3.
Select
Dial-up Connections in the Connections
screen.
4.
In the Dial-up Connections screen, select
Add from the
menu.
5.
In the Add Dial-up screen, enter a name for the
connection in the
Description field.
6.
In the
Connects to field, select The Internet.
7.
Enter the appropriate information for the remaining fields,
and press the
Done softkey.
