GETTING STARTED
11. If necessary, change to the correct instrument version icon and then place and
configure an ICN or MSC block in you instrument.
12. Compile this minimum data base. There is only the communications block to
check at this point if the compile fails.
13. Download this minimum data base.
At the instrument:
14. Watch for the GREEN LED. Your download is successful if the green LED is on
and red is off. You have mastered the basics at this point and can now go onto
configuring a larger data base.
5.3
USING THE MEMORY MODULE
The backup memory module is used to maintain a mirror image of the 64K instrument
database. A small part of this image is reserved for shutdown information and serves as a
valuable diagnostic tool. The module is write protected through the Interface block of the
Application Builder. To protect shutdown information, write protect the memory module.
5.3.1
UPLOAD From Main Database to Memory Module
1.
Set Memory Module switches to "read/write" and "module load".
2.
Either power up the instrument or use the UP_MOD command from the status page.
The instrument automatically attempts an upload to the memory module during
power-up. The default database is run with instrument state equal to UPLOAD.
LEDs will be green on, red on if successful, green on, red flashing if unsuccessful.
Diagnostics and system events may be read from instrument. Instrument state
cannot be changed until power is removed and module switch is placed in
"Normal".
The UP_MOD command allows an upload to the module when the instrument is
in any state. Diagnostics are provided, as above, in case of failure. Uploads are
possible when the main database is configured, version compatible, and has valid
checksums.
3.
Power down the instrument.
4.
Set Memory Module switches to "read/write" or "Read Only" and "Normal".
5.
Power up the instrument.
