2 - MECHANICAL INSTALLATION
2.1
GENERAL
Read these instructions thoroughly before starting installation.
Installation personnel
should be qualified technicians. Observe all electrical code requirements and safety
standards during installation.
Installing the controller involves:
• Unpacking (Section 2.2)
• Installing Modules (Section 2.3)
• Mounting (Section 2.4)
NOTE:
As part of the installation, a fan must be installed as described in Section 2.4
to force air flow over the instrument.
• Electrical Connections (Section 3)
• Communications Connections (Section 4)
2.1.1 Cleaning
Remove dust from the instrument by spraying exposed surfaces and terminals with non-
corrosive, non-toxic, non-flammable inert dusting gas.
2.1.2 Environmental Specifications

UNPACKING
Unpack and visually inspect the instrument housing, MODCELL Multiloop Processor, and
associated modules. A bag containing grounding screws for the processor is included.
Save packing materials for any reshipment, or to support any claim of shipment damage.
All damage claims are made against the carrier and are the responsibility of the customer.
2.3
INSTALLING MODULES
The mix of
modules must be planned to consider current load and signal routing.
2.3.1 Module Layout Planing
Table 2-1 lists the suggested locations for module placement. See Appendix A for a blank copy
of all planning forms.
