Troubleshooting
Problem and Solutions Charts
The following chart lists some conditions that may occur and the recommended solutions.
Follow the suggested solutions until the problem is corrected. If the problem persists, please
call for service.
Problems at Installation

Grinding noise at power
up.
Scan Lock
Power down.
Locate the Scan Lock switch on the underside
of the scanner.
Make sure that the Scan Lock has been moved
to the unlock position (

Power down.
Remove all remaining packing material from
the trays.
Smears, lines, marks or
spots on copies.
Document Glass or Document
Feeder
Clean the Document Glass and the underside
of the Document Feeder.

Refer to the User Guide for cleaning

Original
Verify there are no defects on the original.
Irregular faded patches
Toner unevenly distributed
Remove the toner cartridge.
Shake it gently to distribute the toner evenly.
Reinstall the toner cartridge.
Paper Quality
Ensure the paper used in the machine meets
the specifications provided in the User Guide.
