Appendix
Firmware Upgrade Procedure
The following items are required to update firmware:
•
GefenPRO 16x16 3GSDI Matrix
•
Computer running Windows XP
•
Terminal-emulation program (e.g. HyperTerminal)
•
RS-232 cable (do not use a null-modem cable)
•
Firmware files (downloaded from the Gefen Web site)
To begin the update procedure use the
command. The following set of
instructions will be using Hyperterminal.
1. Power-on the matrix.
2. Connect an RS-232 cable between the matrix and the computer.
3. Open the terminal program. See
for configuration
information.
4. Type and enter the command:

To activate boot loader please type the command again
Function completed
command again. The following will be displayed:

7. Press the ‘
1’ on the computer keyboard to select Download new FW.
The following will be displayed:
Waiting for the file to be sent ... (press ‘a’ to abort)
8. In Hyperterminal, click
Transfer --> Send File...
9. Select the firmware file and then select YModem from the Protocol drop-down list.
10. Click the OK button.
The firmware update procedure will begin. This process should take a couple of
minutes. The matrix will automatically reboot when the firmware upgrade process has
completed.
