Replacing and Adding Internal Devices

To replace a blower:

1

Use the system management software to determine which blower has
failed.

Turn off the system and disconnect the power cord and external
peripherals.

Open the case. See “Opening the case” on page 18 and “Preventing static
electricity discharge” on page 17.

Unplug the correct blower cable from the system board and remove the
cable from the cable clamps.

Lift the blower off of the pins on the bottom of the chassis.

6

Insert the new blower onto the pins on the bottom of the chassis.

Insert the blower cable into the cable clamps. Make sure it does not get
pinched in the cover or block airflow.

8

Plug the blower cable into the connector on the system board. See
“System board” on page 6 for the locations of the blower connectors.

9

Close the case. See “Closing the case” on page 20.

10

Reconnect the power cord and external peripherals, then turn on the
system.
