Auto Link Switching Configuration Example
For 4K/Ultra HD monitoring (Frame Buffer set to 4K raster – transport set to 4x 4K):
1. Connect the KONA output SDI BNCs in the following manner:
• KONA SDI 1 Output -> to -> Monitor SDI 3 Input
• KONA SDI 2 Output -> to -> Monitor SDI 4 Input
• KONA SDI 3 Output -> to -> Monitor SDI 1 Input
• KONA SDI 4 Output -> to -> Monitor SDI 2 Input
At this time when you view 4K/UltraHD over the 4x 3G-SDI links on the
monitor, the quadrants will not be displayed correctly.
2. Enable the Control Panel “SDI Output Quad swap” feature. Now the 4K/
UltraHD monitor will display the quadrants correctly.
To make the monitor display a single or dual link 2K/HD RGB or YUV output,
simply set the KONA framebuffer to 2K Raster and the transport to 2xHD-DL. With
the settings above, KONA will automatically change its outputs to SDI 3 and SDI 4,
and the monitor will display the 2K/HD image correctly, and vice versa.
The reverse function is also possible, using “SDI Input Quad swap”, allowing
swapping back and forth between quad 4K input and dual link 2K input without
having to re-patch.
Audio Mixer Screens
NOTE: The Audio Mixer screens are not available in KONA 4 in UFC Mode or KONA 5 in 8K
Mode.
The Audio Mixer screen has two tabs; Capture Monitor and Playback Monitor.
These tabs display what sources are available for monitoring / mixing via the AJA
hardware when in either of those two modes (if applicable). The controls on this
screen are dedicated only to monitoring adjustments, and do not affect the level
at which inbound audio signals are captured to storage.
The selection check boxes and screen slider controls affect the following KONA
outputs:
• SDI Embedded Audio Out
• HDMI Embedded Audio Out.
IMPORTANT: Even though you can hear changes in the signals and levels adjusted
with the Audio Mixer screen, these changes are NOT recorded to disk during
NLE Capture or Audio Punch In / Voice Over to Timeline. In addition, muting or
activating sources on this screen will not affect audio signals being recorded. The
Audio Mixer screen is dedicated for monitoring only, not program mixing.
The branching arrow on the lower right indicates which sources are being routed
for monitoring in that operating mode, and is colored blue when active and red
when disabled.
