Chapter 3: Creating the Cluster
Creating the Cluster in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
3.4.8
Create a Disk Quorum
The disk quorum allows the cluster manager to determine which nodes in the cluster are dominant using a shared
storage disk (block device) as the medium. A shared virtual drive of at least 10MB will need to be configured for the
disk quorum device.
Perform the following steps to make a disk quorum (qdisk):
1.
Create or choose a small capacity Shared VD for the disk quorum (the example assumes a RAID 0 VD with
mounting at /dev/sda with mr_qdisk as the quorum disk name) by entering the following at the command
line prompt:
#mkqdisk -c /dev/sda -l mr_qdisk
2.
Check whether qdisk was created at both nodes by entering the following at the command line prompt:
#mkqdisk -L
3.
From the QDisk tab in the Cluster Management GUI shown in the following window, under the Heuristics section
enter the following in the Path to Program field:
ping -c3 -w1
4.
Enter 2 in the Interval field, 1 in the Score field, 10 or 20 in the TKO field, and 1 in the Minimum Total Score field.
5.
Click Apply when complete.
