Using your MeeBox as an iTunes server

Your MeeBox can function as an iTunes server. This lets iTunes-equipped computers on the
MeeBox’s network play music that is stored on the MeeBox. The music is streamed from
your MeeBox to the iTunes software on the computer.
When the iTunes server on your MeeBox is enabled, the music collection on the MeeBox
will appear in iTunes as a shared library with the name meebox_music_box. (Look under
the Shared heading in the sidebar of iTunes.) If you select the shared library, the audio files
on your MeeBox will appear in the iTunes track list.
The iTunes server supports MP3, AAC, and uncompressed audio files.

Enabling the iTunes server

1. In your web browser, go to http://meebox:8090/, log in, and click MeeBox Settings.
2. In the menu, click Features.
3. Select the check box under Enable iTunes server and click Save (see Figure 8).

Copying music to your MeeBox

The iTunes server looks for audio files in the folder \\meebox\public\media\audio (on
Mac OS, use the path smb://meebox/public/media/audio; for FTP or SFTP, use the path
/mnt/ide3/public/audio). The server scans this folder for new audio files every 60 seconds.
You can copy media files from your computer into the audio folder using the same
methods you use to copy files to other locations on your MeeBox. For details, see Using
your MeeBox as a network storage device
, below.
For example, to access the audio folder through Windows’s built-in networking:
1. On the Start menu, click Run. The Run dialog box opens.
2. Type \\meebox and press Enter.
3. Double-click the public folder. If you are prompted for login credentials, enter your

MeeBox username and password.

4. Double-click the media folder, then double-click the audio subfolder.
