DVCPRO Upgrade Installation

Troubleshooting

If you experience a problem while performing the upgrade procedure or with
Profile system operation after all the installation steps are completed, first check
all external connections to make sure they are properly made, then refer to the
troubleshooting aid which follows.

Troubleshooting Aid

This troubleshooting aid provides corrective action for some common problems
encountered when performing this upgrade procedure. Search Table 11 for the
problem you are experiencing, then try the recommended action. Table 11 is
continued on several pages. If all else fails, contact Grass Valley Group Support.
Grass Valley Group Support contact information is located on page 5 of this
manual.

Possible Cause

Action

BIOS Boot Error Message:

“EISA configuration error.”

1. EISA configuration in System

CPU board CMOS is
corrupted or an EISA board
was added, removed or
moved.

1. Make sure the LAN, VGA, and Buslogic

SCSI adapter boards are in the slots
specified in Table 10 on page 57. Run the
Load CMOS utility as follows: Choose
Start | Programs | Profile Debug Tools
| Load CMOS
. Press Enter to continue.
Shut down and restart Windows NT.

Windows NT Error Message:

“At least one service or driver
failed during startup.”

1. A driver or service was not

installed properly or there
may be a hardware problem.

1. Open the Windows NT Event Viewer

application for more information. Refer to
your Windows NT documentation or
Windows NT Help for more information on
using the Event Viewer.

Windows NT Warning message:

“Real Time Processor Not
Available - PDR Access Control
Service not responding”

and

“Real-Time Processor Failure -
No Media File Systems”

1. Media file system appears

corrupted because the SCSI
disk cables are not connected
or not connected properly.

2. SCSI disk system failure.

1. This error message will occur if there is a

hardware problem in the SCSI disk
system. If using external storage chassis,
check SCSI terminators and try checking
or reversing the external SCSI cables.
Remove the unit covers and verify all
SCSI cabling is connected properly (refer
to Figure 5 on page 28). Verify that SCSI
cable A is connected to the Master disk
recorder board and the SCSI cable C is
connected to the Slave disk recorder
board.
