Make sure the terminal or PC you are using to make this
connection is configured to match these settings.
If you are having problems making this connection on a PC,
make sure the emulation is set to VT-100. If you still don’t see
anything, try pressing “ + r” to refresh the screen.
Managing Switch Stacks
The SS3GR24i/SS3GR48i Switch is designed to be stacked in
stacks of up to eight Switches, all managed as a single unit with a
single IP address. The default selection of the primary/master
switch is based on the switch in the stack with the lowest MAC
address. For this to take effect, the switches in the stack must be
booted within 15sec of one another.
IP Address
Each switch must be assigned its own IP Address, which is used for
communication with an SNMP network manager or other TCP/IP
application (for example BOOTP, TFTP). The switch does not have
a default IP address. Please set the default Switch IP Address to
meet the specification of your networking address scheme.
The switch is also assigned a unique MAC address by the factory.
This MAC address cannot be changed, and can be found from the
initial boot console screen – shown below.
The switch’s MAC address can also be found from the console
program under the Switch Information menu item, as shown
below.
Setting an IP Address
The IP address for the switch must be set before it can be managed
with the web-based manager. The switch’s IP address may be
