Transferring PATGuard Data
The PATGuard Elite SQL program cannot open databases created in other PATGuard PC programs directly, this
data, if required, must be transferred as a Briefcase file.
Note
Data cannot be transferred from PATGuard Lite.
Creating a Briefcase file
Within the previous PATGuard program select a Client, Site or Location. The item selected and all lower level
items will be copied. Right mouse click will display the context menu. Choose Send to then File… A Save As…
dialog box will be displayed, select the path and File name where the file is to be saved. Briefcase files have a File
Type of *.pat. Select Save to create the file.
Opening a Briefcase file
Within PATGuard Elite SQL, first connect to or create the database to store your transferred data. Then from the
File drop down box select Open… Select the path of the file you wish to open. Select the correct File of type. For
Briefcase files this is *.pat. Select the appropriate file then select Open. As the data is processed messages may
appear if there is a conflict between existing data and the new data.
The PATGuard Elite SQL database will now include all details stored below the Client, Site or Location, as it was
in the previous PATGuard program.
This process can be repeated for any number of Clients, Sites and Locations.
