4.2.4.2 Network
The Network Tab has a sub-level for configuring the three network interfaces on the CMR-8500. Of the
three interfaces, one is Fast Ethernet (FE) and is used as the management interface to the CMR-8500. The
other two interfaces are Gigabit (GE) and are the data transport interfaces.

Network: Mgt (Management Interface)

The configurable parameters for the Mgt Tab are:
• IP Address: The IP address assigned to the CMR-8500 for management. The IP address is entered in
dotted decimal format.
• Subnet Mask: The subnet mask assigned to the CMR-8500’s management interface. The subnet
mask is entered in dotted decimal format and is typically 255.255.255.0 for a C-Class mask,
255.255.0.0 for a B-Class mask, or 255.0.0.0 for an A-Class mask.
• Default Gateway: The Default Gateway assigned to the CMR-8500’s management interface. The
Default Gateway is entered in dotted decimal format and must be within the subnet of the IP Address
assigned to the LAN interface. The Default Gateway is the address of a local router to which all non-
local subnet traffic will be directed.
• VLAN Enable: Enable VLAN capability for this interface.
• VLAN ID: The ID of the VLAN (if enabled).
• Link Configuration: Speed and duplex setting for the Management Interface. The valid selections
for this interface are:
• Auto (Preferred)
