Alarm Enable: The second zoom screen, shown in figure 2.2, allows
the user to enable or disable alarms. Alarms are disabled by default.
If enabled, the limits defined by the user are used to monitor input
signals for alarm conditions and any alarm events will be captured
along with a time stamp for that event. Otherwise, no alarms will be
captured.
When an alarm occurs, the appropriate channel error flag for the
appropriate group is set in the status word (4x bits 1 through 8). The
user may then read each alarm in that group (up to 4 channels) by
setting the mode select bits to the Read Time Stamp Output mode (see
Chapter 4.1). If no alarm exists, all data will be 0.
When in the Read Time Stamp Output mode, the group select meaning
is different than it is in Read data and Read Channel Status modes.
Only two channels of information is available when reading time
stamps. The time stamp read channel select settings are as follows
(see Section 4.1 for more detail):
