4. Monitoring and Configuring the Printer
SNMP
Using the SNMP manager, you can get information about the printer.
The SNMP agent operating on UDP and IPX is incorporated into the built-in Ethernet board and
optional wireless LAN interface unit of this printer.
This printer also supports SNMPv3, which increases user authentication, data encryption, and
access control security.
To encrypt communication by SNMPv3, you must specify the printer’s encrypted password.
• If you changed the printer’s community name, change the configuration of the connected computer
accordingly, using SNMP Setup Tool. For details, see SNMP Setup Tool Help.
The default community names are [public] and [admin]. You can get MIB information using these com-
munity names.
Start SNMP Setup Tool
• Windows XP/Vista:
Click the [Start] button.
Point to [SmartDeviceMonitor for Admin] on the [All Programs] menu.
Click [SNMP Setup Tool].
