Smocking
RECOMMENDED INITIAL SETI'INGS
• Pattern: Straight Stitch
■ Stitch width: Straight
• Stitch length: Longest (5)
• Foot: General Purpose
• Loosen upper thread tension slightly.
Sewing Instructions:
Stitch out 1 row of straight stitching leaving 6 inches of
thread ends at both the beginning and end of the stitching.
Next stitch out another row of stitching 1 /4 of an inch from
the first row, again leaving 6 inches of thread ends at the
start and end of the row. Repeat until you have 6 groups of
rows of stitching, spacing each group Vi an inch apart.
Gather the fabric to the desired width and secure ends.
Once gathering is complete, you may use a decorative
stitch to embellish the smocking area.
Twin Needle Pintuck
RECOAAMENDED SETI'INGS
• Insert a twin needle.
• Select a Straight Stitch, medium length.
• Thread two spool of thread.
Sewing Instructions:
On a lightweight piece of batiste, pull a thread on the
straight grain to create a straight line. Increase upper
thread tension slightly. Sew, stitching on the "pulled”
thread line. Repeat for multiple tucks.
