Connecting the Device
High-Definition Multimeclia
Interface
(HDMI) is
an
uncompressed digital interface
that carries both video and audio data I5V way of an integrated .mini-plug cable. Since
HDMI is laaseci on Digital Visual Interface (DVI), the jack on the laack of your TV is also
compatible with devices that have a DVl jack.
Using the example of a set-top box:
• If your set-top box has a DVI jack, connect an HDMI cable and. an HDMI/DVI
adapter.
(^Conirect an HDMI cable to the HDMI INPin' jack on the laack of the TV.
(S^ttach an HD.Ml/DVI adapter to the end of the HDMI cable, then connect the
;t3apter to the DVT Out jack on the bac:k of the device.
^^ince you’re using an .HDML' DVT adapter, yon need to connect Audio left aticl
right cables to the R and L jacks on the back of the device and to R and L Atidio
jacks that aren’t in use on the back of the TV.
After you’ve completed the on-screen Assisted Setu p (page 15.), go to the DM Audio
Input
optioti in the Advanced Audio
menu to select which Audio Input jack you’re
using. In the example (.tn the opposite page you would choose INPl.H 4.
Note:
If the device you 're connecting has a digital audio output jack, connect a
digital audio cable from the device to an audio receiver for digital audio.
OR
If your set-top box has an HDMI jack, connect an HDMI cable.
Qrnnect an HDMI cable to the HDMI 1 INPld’ (or HDMI 2 INPUT if your TV has
this jack and it’s more convenient) jack on the bark rtf the W and to the HDMI Out
jac:k on the back of the device.
Notes:
Press the INPUT button on the remote control to scroll through the Video
Input Channels until you see HDMI 1 or HDMI 2 displayed in the channel
ba n mm.
You can set up the IV to automatically tune to the correct device you want to
view. Ihis is called Auto Tuning. See Chapter 3 for more inforrnatkm on Auto
Tunirw.
