■ Slide pads
Use ground control box to extend the inner boom
about 1 foot (30 cm). Inspect to see that all slide
pads are in place in the rear end of base boom.
Look at the surface that slides on each slide pad.
The paint should still be in place and there should
not be any signs of bare metal gouging.
Check the slide pads and paint inside the front end
of the base boom similarly. Completely retract the
boom then turn Master Key Switch off.
■ Hydraulic oil filter
To check the condition of the hydraulic oil filter do
the following:
1. Be sure the battery charger is disconnected.
2. Set the Battery switch (1) to ON.
3. Open the cowling door (2) to gain access to
the hydraulic oil filter gauge (3).
4. Set the Platform/Ground Selector switch to
GROUND (4).
5. Set the Emergency Stop switch (5) to on.
6. Hold the Ground Operation switch (6) up.
7. Hold the Riser Lift switch (7) to DOWN.
If the indicator needle reads in the red part of
the gauge (8) the filter (9) should be replaced
before the AB46J is put into service.
