Screening
The Screening panel allows you to control the screen (raster) settings. Screen
settings are applied to all elements on the page (text, graphics, and images).
You can set the following attributes:
1. Halftonimg – sets the screen frequency. The freqency is measured
in lpi (lines per inch). Higher values yield a finer raster, but allow
less grey levels to be distinguished.
2. Screen angle – sets the screen angle. In general it is good to print
monochrome pages at an angle of 45º.
3. Print density – selects the toner density to be applied by the
copier:
• Light 1, …, Light 5, Normal, Dark
4. Smoothing – selects the image smoothing to be applied by the
copier:
• Off, Type 1, Type 2, Type 3
Notes:
“Off” - no smoothing.
“Type 1” is suitable for printing the diagonal lines of general
characters and graphics.
“Type 2” is suitable for printing the curved sections of general
characters.
“Type 3” is suitable for printing the curved sections of ornamental
characters and fine lines.
