Configuring the Microsoft CA

To enable the Microsoft CA to issue your domain smart card certificates, continue with configuration.
Go to
1.
Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Certificate Authority to open the Microsoft
Certification Authority configuration console and select the folder
Certificate Templates to get an
overview of all currently available certificate templates:

The Microsoft CA can only issue certificates that comply to one of these certificate templates. With a default
installation of the Microsoft CA (as described above), some certificate templates, such as those that are
necessary for the Microsoft CA to issue smart card certificates, are not available. To make these certificate
templates available to your Microsoft CA, update the list of available certificate templates.
To add new certificate templates to the list of available certificate templates, right-click on
Certificate
Templates and select New > Certificate Template to Issue:
