Section 8: Connections

Your device includes features to connect to the internet and
to other devices.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is a wireless networking technology that provides access to
local area networks, and to other Wi-Fi Direct devices.

Wi-Fi networks, or Access Points (WAPs) can be Open
(unsecured), or Secured (requiring you to provide login
credentials). Your device supports Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n.

By default, your device will notify you of nearby Wi-Fi networks
when you launch a high data usage application. You can also
configure your device to automatically connect to known Wi-Fi
networks when you launch a high data usage application. To
configure these and other Wi-Fi settings, refer to

Settings >

Wireless and networks > Wi-Fi settings.

Configuring Wi-Fi Settings

Configure your device’s Wi-Fi settings. For more information,
see “Wi-Fi settings” on page 95.

Turning Wi-Fi On or Off

Turn your device’s Wi-Fi service on or off. When you turn Wi-
Fi service on, your device automatically searches for
available, in-range Wireless Access Points (WAPs).

1. From the Home screen, touch

Apps

Settings

Wireless and networks.

2. Touch Wi-Fi to turn Wi-Fi On or Off. When on, a check

appears in the checkbox.

Tip: To quickly turn on Wi-Fi from any screen, touch the right

side of the System bar, then touch Wi-Fi Off.
