Working with SIMs
About SIMs
Thin Provisioning and Smart Tiers provide Service Information Messages (SIMs) to report the status
of the THP V-VOLs and pools. The SIM level is Moderate. If an event associated with a pool occurs,
a SIM and an SNMP trap are reported.
An example of a SIM condition is if the actual pool usage rate is 50.2%, but only 50% is displayed
because the capacity amount is truncated after the decimal point. If the threshold is set to 50%, a
SIM and an SNMP trap are reported, even though the pool usage rate displayed on the GUI does
not indicate the threshold is exceeded.
