When a pair is split from the primary system, that
system changes the status of the P-VOL and S-VOL
to Split.

S-VOL to Split. The primary system detects this (if
path status is normal) and changes P-VOL status
to Split.
• When a pair is release from the secondary
system, that system changes the S-VOL status to
SMPL. The primary system detects this (if the path
status is normal) and changes the P-VOL status to
Split. The pair must be released from the primary
system in order to change P-VOL status to SMPL.

suspended-error) • The primary system has suspended the pair due
to an error condition.

If the primary system cannot keep the pair
synchronized for any reason, it changes the status
of the P-VOL and S-VOL (if possible) to Split.
Read only Read/write The status of the Continuous Access Synchronous
LUSE pair is COPY or PAIR, but the status of one or PDUB
more individual LDEV pairs within the Continuous
Access Synchronous LUSE pair is SMPL or PSUE due
to an error condition.
