S-VOL access
Description
RWC Status
N/A
The volume is not assigned to a pair. The storage system accepts read/write for SMPL
volumes that are not reserved.
SMPL
Note: When a volume is in SMPL status, the status does not display in Remote Web
Console.
Read/write
disabled
The pair is being deleted. Pair operations are not allowed in this status. Upon deletion,
the status becomes SMPL.
SMPL(PD)
Read only
The paircreate initial copy is in progress.* The storage system accepts read/write to
the primary volume but stops write operations to the secondary volume.
COPY(PD)/COPY
Read only
The initial copy operation is complete and the volumes are paired. The storage system
performs update copy operations from primary volume to secondary volume. The
primary and secondary volumes in PAIR status may not be identical.
PAIR
Read only
The pairsplit operation in Steady Split mode is in progress. Any remaining differential
data is copied to the secondary volume. When this is completed, the pair is split and

the data in the secondary volume is identical to data in the primary volume at the time
of the split.

to split primary volumes and secondary volumes, so that the pair can be resynchronized
quickly.
Read only
The pairresync operation is in progress. The storage system does not accept write
I/Os for secondary volumes. When a split pair is resynchronized, the storage system
COPY(RS)/COPY
copies only primary volume differential data to the secondary volume. When a
suspended pair is resynchronized, the storage system copies the entire primary volume
to the secondary volume.
Read only
The reverse pairresync operation is in progress. The storage system copies only
secondary volume differential data to the primary volume. No update copy operations
COPY(RS-R)/RCPY
are performed during Reverse Copy or Quick Restore. Write I/O operations to
secondary volumes are rejected.
Read only
The pair is suspended by the storage system. The storage system continues accepting
read and write I/Os to the primary volume. Update copy operations are stopped to
PSUE
a secondary volume. The storage system marks the entire primary volume as differential
data, resulting in entire primary volume being copied to the secondary volume when
the pair is resynchronized.
* Starting time of the copy depends on the numbers of pairs and the storage system environment.
