If you cascade the primary volume with one L1 S-VOL and one L2 S-VOL, the pair topology is
1:1:1, as shown below.

If you add the L2 secondary volume to an existing L1 pair, you can proceed in two ways.

You can add the pair to the primary volume, in which case you specify 2 as the number of
secondary volumes, 1:1:1 as the pair topology, and then select the L1 primary volume as the
primary volume.

You can add the pair to the secondary volume, in which case you specify 1 as the number
of secondary volumes, 1:1:- as the pair topology, and then select the L1 secondary volume
as the primary volume.

Example 3

If you cascade the primary volume with two L1 S-VOLs, each with two L2 S-VOLs, the number of
secondary volumes is six and the pair topology is 1:2:2, as shown below.

Example 4

If you are creating an unequal topology, like the one shown in the following figure, an extra step
is required in addition to setting the number of secondary volumes and pair topology.
