Loading and Unloading Tape Cartridges
Press Enter to display the first Load/Unload menu, shown in Figure 3-24 .
In Figure 3-24 , the $ is next to line 2 of the display. Line 2 shows the top item in
a scrollable list of sources. Note that a ! appears on the right of the bottom
line. As a result, you can now use the " button to scroll through the list and the
top item on the list appears. You press the " button, three things happen:
•
The list scrolls down one item (only line 2 scrolls).
•
A " appears on the right of line 1 to indicate that there is one or more items
above the item displayed on line 2.
•
The * at the left of line 2 disappears. The default selection has been scrolled
off screen, and an item from the list has not yet been selected. The *
indicates the current selection or the default selection.

Initial Screen - From Line
The list on line 2 ( Figure 3-24 , the From line) includes the tape drive and every tape magazine
slot that has a cartridge in it. You cannot select a tape cartridge from a slot or tape drive that is
empty.
Initial Screen - To Line
The list on line 4 ( Figure 3-24 , the To line) includes all the valid destination choices; that is, all
slots that are empty. A tape cartridge cannot be placed in a slot or tape drive that already
contains one. If the tape drive is empty, it appears on this list.
Scroll List - To Line
There is another limitation on the To list. If the tape drive has been selected on the From
screen, the To list can include only slots. If a slot has been selected on the From screen, the To
list can contain only the tape drive.
