Format List become equal to N, the number of shredding operations, including the Last Data
row.
The number of rows = The number of shredding operations to perform.
N = The number of shredding operations necessary to overwrite data in target volume with
dummy data (see
“ Calculating the Number of Shredding Operations Necessary to Overwrite
Data in Target Volume with Dummy Data to Delete” (page 93)
).
CAUTION:
Performing Volume Shredder once can set the parameters for performing
dummy-data writes up to eight times.
This is possible if the capacity of the data-deleting target volume per flash disk exceeds the
following:
Capacity of target volume per flash disk
For
11GB or more
SDT2 * — S072FC
21GB or more
SDT2 * — S146FC
29GB or more
SDT2 * — S200FC
58GB or more
SDT2 * — S400FC
(The data-deleting capacity per flash disk = capacity of target volume / data in RAID
configuration.)
In addition, integrating target volumes can reduce the number of Volume Shredder operations.
If the capacity of a data-deleting target volume is less than those described, you must perform
a Volume Shredder operation (
“Defining the Shredding Settings” (page 89)
and
Data in the Target Volume” (page 90)
) twice or more.
Repeat the Volume Shredding operation until the number of dummy data writes equals the
number of shredding operations N.
